Overview:
Stretchy wraps are a lovely cuddly option for babies in the first few months of life, a fab choice for easing that 'womb to world' transition. They're super-soft, and mould beautifully to support a tiny body. Once you get the hang of them, they're quick to tie too.
The Manduca stretchy wrap is made of 100% organic cotton and feels instantly high quality, as should be expected of this well-regarded German brand.
Most of our stretchy wraps have an equal amount of elasticity along the width and length (a 'two way stretchy'), but Manduca wraps have a just a little stretch along the length, and stretches more width-wise (we think of it as a 'one and a half way stretchy'!).
This means that you can use in in two main ways:
- a standard 'pocket wrap cross carry' - pre-tied, with your baby added after the knot is secure, a three layer carry. This stretchy, as it has less stretch along the length, has a smaller window of tightness than a very stretchy two-way that will 'work' for your baby.
- a front wrap cross carry - partially positioned, then tightened and tied off around your baby. A one layer carry, with the option to spread fabric to make three layers. Less stretch along the length means that it can be used like a woven wrap in this way.
You can also use this like a woven wrap - particularly as it's a bit more generous on width than a standard one way stretchy - I particularly like this on a Robin's Hip Carry for 4 months +.
