Terms and Conditions of Sling Hire. Oxford Sling Library.
Thank you for hiring a sling/carrier/item; we hope that you enjoy using it.
Oxford Sling Library is a volunteer-led, parent-run service for the benefit of the local community. All our events may be subject to change or cancellation at short notice due to unexpected illness of ourselves or our children. Such instances are rare, however please always check our website: http://www.oxfordslinglibrary.co.uk/ and or Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pg/OxfordSlingLibrary/ before attending to avoid any disappointment.
All our sling fitters are professionally trained and certified by official babywearing schools.
The sling library service is fully insured.
Our Terms & Conditions, website, Facebook pages and MyTurn listings may be updated without notice to you. This is to ensure that our information is as up-to-date as possible.
Hire Form / Creating a MyTurn membership account
A Hire Form (online or paper version) must be completed for each sling/carrier that you borrow.
We require your full name, email address, mobile phone number and address including postcode.
The form will also include your hire charges and slings due back date.
Your personal details will be kept in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998, and will only be used to contact you in relation to your hire, or topic related to Oxford Sling Library e.g. sling training course. Hire Cost And Duration
All carriers are lent subject to availability, condition and suitability.
Subject to availability, up to 3 carriers may be borrowed at one time.
The standard and minimum hire is 2 weeks.
Sling hire costs £5 per sling/carrier/item for a 2 week hire.
Longer hire is possible (up to 3 months in a row).
Hire fees are non-refundable.
Payment is made on collection of the carrier via cash, card or online payment system (Stripe).
If you wish to rehire your sling/carrier/item beyond the due back date, the fee is £5 for an additional 2 weeks and is payable via online card payment system (Stripe).
Rehires are issued by Oxford Sling Library admin team only. MyTurn is not set up for users to do their own rehires online.
Please return your sling/carrier/item on the agreed date with any/all accessories (lost accessories will need to be replaced by/or charged to the borrower).
Slings can be returned to any sling library event. Check Oxford Sling Library website for dates.
Slings can be returned directly to Josie’s house: 09 Temple Mews, Temple Cowley, Oxford OX4 2DY. Use the clearly labelled green lidded drop off box in the open porch outside Josie’s front door.
Slings can be posted via 1st or 2nd class Signed For (so that it is trackable) to Josie Hadjiev, (Oxford Sling Library), 9 Temple Mews, Oxford OX4 2DY. Please always double-layer the packaging (supermarket plastic bags are fine) as often the outer layer gets torn in transit. If slings are damaged in transit, the replacement fee is chargable to you the hirer. Add your name and address to the back of the parcel please. Seal well. Postal charges are non refundable.
A sling/carrier/item is not considered returned until it has been confirmed by myturn email that the item is checked back in to MyTurn. At sling library sessions, this will usually be done in front of you. For drop offs and postal returns, we aim to confirm return within 48 hours. If you do not received confirmation of return, please get in touch as soon as possible to firstname.lastname@example.org or 07759980880 or further fees may accrue on MyTurn.
We keep track of our sling hires via MyTurn, which sends out automated emails regarding your sling hire e.g. reminders that items are due back or that items are overdue.
Please respond to the email from email@example.com as soon as possible regarding what you want to do: request a rehire, return hire via post, drop off at Josie’s house (or another sling library volunteers house by prior agreement.)
Overdue fines begin 3 days after your item is due back and fines are charged at 50p per day and will accrue until we hear from you.
Rehires are issued by Oxford Sling Library admin team only. MyTurn is not set up for users to do their own rehires online. Respond to our MyTurn emails please.
Hirers that do not respond to contact from Oxford Sling Library have 31 days from when the item is due back before we deem the item lost/stolen and the hirer is billed for a replacement at full RRP (recommended retail price). This is last resort before Small Claims Court.
If a hirer has been a repeated late returner of our slings/carriers in the past, or is difficult to get in contact with, we reserve the right to not hire anything further.
Care & Cleaning
Please look after your sling/carrier carefully.
Some carriers are hired out with detachable parts: lumbar support pad, accessory chest / cinching strap, dribble pads around the straps, etc. Please make sure these items are returned with the carrier.
Please avoid using the carrier in smokey environments.
Feel free to wash the carrier.
Oxford Sling Library stock is stored in a residence that has pets (dogs). The pets are not allowed near the slings however if you or your partner have significant dog-related allergies, get in touch so that we can find a way to hire a specially laundered item to you.
Safety & Liability All carriers are extremely safe when used properly, however misuse can cause injury to yourself or your child. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are using the carrier correctly and that your baby is safe at all times Oxford Sling Library cannot be help responsible for any accident that results in injury or death whilst the slng/carrier/item is in your care.
Wearing your child is ultimately your responsibility and omits any liability from Oxford Sling Library, during, whilst and after you are carrying your child.
Our slings/carriers are not to be used for any activity or exercise other than walking. This is the manufacturers warranty.
If you need to clean your carrier, please try spot-cleaning first. Use a cloth and warm soapy water to clean the relevant area e.g. posset marks.
If you would like to wash the carrier, use eco-type washing liquid (to avoid/limit allergies for the next user).
NO fabric conditioner (as it makes fabrics and buckle webbing slippery).
NO optical brighteners (as they damage fabric).
For a buckle carrier: Clip everything that has a buckle together. For velcro carriers: cover all velcro with with the straps velcro (to avoid other fabrics sticking to the fabric).
Hang up your carrier to dry. Ideally on the back of a chair, drying rack or over a banister . Tumble dryers can shrink fabric and shorten the lives of long-term usage.
Lost or Damaged Carriers
All slings/carriers/items are hired out undamaged.
If anything happens to the carrier (lost or damaged) whilst it is in your possession, please contact Josie firstname.lastname@example.org or 07758859880 to discuss.
If a sling/carrier/item is damaged, please do not attempt to fix it yourself. Our insurance prevents us from sewing however professional and will invalidate our insurance on that item. We have to contact the manufacturer to see if it can be fixed by them directly.
The full replacement of any lost or damaged carrier/accessories/clothing/covers or items will be borne by the borrower.
Customers who do not return their hired sling/carrier/item, despite several reminders (we will always do our best to contact you via the methods given: email primarily, then by phone) will be referred to the Small Claims Court to recoup the full costs of the carrier (for a replacement to the library).
Oxford Sling Library commits to sending you all information, primarily via email to notify you about your hires, opening an account with Myturn and regarding payment. Please check your spam folder in case our emails are being misdirected.
